The Leapfrog Group is accepting applications for the 2023 Bruce Bradley Fellowship, a yearlong education and leadership development program founded to support innovative and bold leaders among employers and purchasers of health care benefits. Candidates for the fellowship are mid-career leaders who are working to advance the safety and quality of health care in their communities and across the country. Applications are open through November 15, 2022.
“Employers are ready for dramatic improvement in health care—and they are uniquely positioned to ensure safety and quality is accounted for in the care of their employees,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “This fellowship program fosters a collaborative, supportive environment that equips employer and purchaser leaders with the tools they need to turbo-charge this improvement.”
The fellowship is named in honor of Bruce E. Bradley, a founder and first chair of The Leapfrog Group’s Board of Directors, and former Director of Health Care Strategy and Public Policy for General Motors Health Care.
Ideal candidates are experienced professionals who work actively with or for organizations that purchase health care. Applicants can be representatives of coalitions working with employers; human resource or benefits professionals for public purchasers, federal purchasers or private employers; or individuals playing influential roles in health care purchasing. The fellowship is not designed for health care providers unless those providers also have responsibilities as an employer offering health care benefits.
“The Bruce Bradley Fellowship has been a game changer. From learning and discovering new, innovative ways on how to enhance patient safety to brainstorming on how to implement health equity strategies, the fellowship empowers you to become a stronger advocate,” said Stacy Leick, Director of Communications and Health Programs at the Economic Alliance for Michigan. “The fellowship project and professional connections made during this time has ignited a passion inside me to do whatever I can to improve patient safety and health equity, not only for the members of the organization I represent, but also for anyone experiencing the challenges of accessing quality care.”
Selected fellows will be announced in December 2022. Fellows will receive a $3,000 stipend and travel expenses for in-person sessions. To complete the fellowship, fellows will be asked to undertake a project in their community reflecting their learnings.
