Why did your organization decide to apply to become a Leapfrog Regional Leader?
As one of the founding members of the Leapfrog Group, the Purchaser Business Group on Health firmly believes that health care organizations should be held accountable for the safety and quality of care they deliver to patients, and that this accountability is motivated via initiatives that publicly report results based on measure sets that have been deemed national standards.
In your view, what kind of impact has Leapfrog had on your market thus far?
It opened the door to a surge in statewide hospital level reporting efforts, which is now culminating in the CHART Initiative. CHART is designed to publicly report the performance of California hospitals on a wide range of quality and safety measures.
